Farmers Branch boasts a multitude of beautiful parks providing the perfect setting for a Memorial Day weekend celebration, when the inaugural Liberty Fest pays tribute to the men and women that have served our country. The two-day event will be centered on the area from Gussie Field Watterworth Park to Liberty Plaza and the Historical Park.

Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall

Open 24 hours | Liberty Plaza

From 8 a.m. Friday through 9 p.m. Monday, this moving tribute is open to visitors throughout Memorial Day Weekend. An accurate 3/5 scale recreation of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., the nearly 300-foot wall allows friends and family who otherwise may not be able to travel to Washington D.C. the opportunity to pay tribute to these American heros in their home town.

Fishin’ Fun

6:30 – 9:30 p.m. | Gussie Field Watterworth Park

The annual Fishin’ Fun event is now a part of Liberty Fest! Friday evening Rawhide Creek will be stocked full with one ton of hungry catfish ready to bite your hook. Fishin’ Fun will also feature a catch and release fishing tank and prize give-a-ways with a grand prize drawing for a Nintindo Wii.

Lace up your kicks and jump-start Saturday’s Liberty Fest events with a non-competitive six-mile walk through the most beautiful and historical parts of Farmers Branch.

8 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Cox Soccer Complex

Are you ready for some football? Get your team together and bring your A-game to Cox Soccer Complex on Saturday and Sunday for the 7-on-7 Touch Football Tournament. Open to all adult and youth teams.

Outdoor Expo

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Gussie Field Watterworth Park

Liberty Fest brings you to a world of outdoor adventure. Open to all ages, the Outdoor Expo will showcase activities and interactive exhibits such as rock climbing, archery and animal edutainment.

Old-Fashioned Carnival & Midway

Noon – 5 p.m. | Historical Park

Step right up to an old-fashioned carnival in the heart of Liberty Fest. The entire family will enjoy a midway bustling with classic games, historical attractions, wandering trick ropers, live entertainment and more.

Backyard Grill-Off

Can you rock a ribeye like nobody’s business? Bring it on. In our inaugural competition of grill skill, contestants will showcase their smokin’ hot secrets for the most mouthwatering outdoor cooking in the Metroplex.

Farmers Branch is home to more than 1,000 roses. Tour the beautifully landscaped gardens and meet and chat with the delightful Australian authors of Tea Roses: Old Roses for Warm Gardens.

Outdoor Concerts and Fireworks

Send off the inaugural Farmers Branch Liberty Fest with a bang when the legendary REO Speedwagon takes the stage with Gin Blossoms, all followed by a stunning fireworks display.

Liberty Kidzone

Noon – 6 p.m. | StarCenter/DART Area

Liberty Kidzone is a special area just for the kiddos. Activities will include a bungee trampoline, barrel train rides, a petting zoo, an old fire truck, costumed characters, a balloon artist, bounce houses and a giant sandbox.

Admission to the Liberty Kidzone is free. Kid-friendly concessions will be available for purchase.
